The McDonald Windows
Fredrick Alexander McDonald (1908-2003) Served as U.S. Army Chaplin during WWII. As he traveled through war-torn Europe, he found himself dismayed by the destruction of sacred places. He began saving small shards form the shattered stained glass windows in hopes that one day they could serve as testament to the to the sacrifices made by so many. Today, 25 works of art incorporating these shards, along with Chaplain McDonald's memories of them, have been create by 13 artists and assembled into a special exhibit. they serve as a memorial to the places where they were found an doffer hope that such destruction will never be seen again.
