Frederick eventually found religion his life's calling while studying abroad in Europe, and devoted his life to the Episcopal Church, broken only by a short leave to serve as a U.S. Army Chaplain under General Omar Bradley in World War II. This experience, combined with his work around the globe, including the Pacific, Europe and Africa gave him an international perspective on life. Everywhere he went, he took an interest in people and their stories.
